GUTTER PROTECTION (GUTTER GUARDS)
There are over 500 different types of gutter protection. Many of the distributers send us samples to look at in hopes we will use their product. We at A-1 will only use products that pass our standards. Below you will see the guards that we feel give our customers the best at each level. Keep in mind that some perform better than others as described below.
#1 GUTTER PROTECTOR This is our highest level gutter guard. #1 Gutter Protector is installed under the shingles (if possible) and hooks under the front lip of the gutter. #1 Gutter Protector uses the principles of water adhesion to draw the water over the top and into the openings on the front. As the water enters the gutter, any debris are deflected to the ground. Water goes in and debris can't, no clogged gutters. #1 Gutter Protection also protects your gutter system from damage due to snow and ice slides. Because there are not any standing edges, snow and ice will slide off the house and over the gutter system without impacting the front edge of the gutter. No winter damage to your gutter, even with a metal roof. Compair this system to any gutter guard on the market and you'll see why it's the only high end gutter guard A-1 will use. 96% to 100% effective on debris in all areas. LEAF GUARD This is our most popular guard. This guard will keep up with the big boys in most areas at a lower price. Made from aluminum. This guard is installed flat on the gutter, not touching the roof. This is one of two guards not seen from the ground. The perforations let in all the water and none of the debris. (Some pine needles can enter so I do not recomend in heavy pine areas.) Leaf guard comes in a mill finish. 100% effective on large debris in most areas. 90% in pine tree areas. PINE SCREAN Pine needles are the one thing that seems to get into just about anything. If you have pine trees close to the house, your guard options get limited. You have two choices, our high end #1 Protector or the lower priced Pine Screan. This is a guard that is fool proof for ANY type of debris, no mater how small. Nothing can pennetrate this guard! Even the bees who like to find a place to build their nests are rejected from this one. The screaning over this guard will syphin water into the gutter not allowing anything else in. GUTTER COVER This is our economy guard. Gutter Cover is installed either under shingles (can lift shingles slightly) or curled in gutter, depending on the house. Made from vinyl (will expand more than aluminum on warm summer days). Gutter cover comes in white or brown. 70% to 85% effective on debris, 60% in heavy pine areas.
STRAINERS These help protect the debris from going into the down spout. If you have underground drains and not using gutter guard, these are a must. Any debris that can make it down the spout can clog underground drains (where you can't clean) Strainers go over the down spout hole to stop the debris.
NOTE: AS GUTTER PROTECTION SYSTEMS HELP KEEP GUTTERS CLEAR OF DEBRIS, IT IS THE HOMEOWNERS RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE THE GUTTERS ARE NOT OVERFLOWING. A-1 WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY OVERFLOWING GUTTERS DUE TO CLOGS.
